The notification for the Short Service Commission Officer job is out for this year, and there are a total of 36 vacancies in various branches, and the candidates has to either a BDS graduated or MDS from any college that is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). Following are a few guidelines to follow to apply for one of the most prestigious and dedicated posts in the Indian Army.
Eligibility to Join the Army through Short Service Commission
- Candidates need to be a BDS or MDS through any college that is recognized by the DCI, and a BDS candidate needs to have a minimum score of 55%
- The candidate should have completed one year compulsory rotatory internship recognized by the DCI by 31st October 2012
- Should have the Permanent Dental Registration Certificate which is valid at least up to 31st December 2012
- As of December 31st 2012, the candidate should not have crossed the age of 45 years
- Should be medically fit in all aspects

You need to write on a plain paper all the particulars in the application form that you are attaching. It has to reach the Director General’s office before 31st October 20112. Candidates who have applied earlier may also apply if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
The Directorate General reserves the right to reject any application, without telling a reason for the same. The Short Service Commission tenure is of 5 years, and it can be extended later on by other 9 years, divided in two spells – 5 and 4 years tenures.

Attested Copies
The following copies have to be attested and brought for the Interview:
- BDS & MDS degrees.
- Matriculation Certificate for Date of birth.
- Dental Registration Certificate duly renewed upto 31 Dec 2012.
- BDS final year mark-sheet.
- Internship completion certificate
- Two additional identical attested passport size recent photographs.
- Authority under which BDS/MDS College is recognized by DCI.
- ‘Number of Attempts in BDS’ Certificate from head of institute.
- ‘No Objection Certificate’ from present employer, if any.
- Any other relevant documents.
Candidates are required to use identical passport size recent photographs (05 more photographs will be required for medical examination, in case you are selected in merit during interview).
Enclose one self-addressed post card for acknowledgement and one self-addressed envelope of size 23 cms x10 cms with Rs.6/- postal stamps affixed for
reply.
No Demand Draft/cheque is required along with application.
